Spicy Varagu Porridge

Everyone of us can have this healthy breakfast/dinner to keep diabetes at a distance.

Ingredients

  • Varagu– 1 cup
  • Moong Dal– 1/2 cup
  • Pepper– 1 tbsp
  • Jeeragam – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger (small piece)
  • Garlic – 4 nos
  • Green Chilli – 4 nos
  • Curry Leaves
  • Ghee
  • Cashew (optional)
  • Water – 6 cups
  • Salt

Steps

  1. Add Ghee to a Kadai
  2. Once hot, add crushed pepper and crushed Jeeragam
  3. Once they pop, add crushed ginger, crushed garlic, green chillies and curry leaves
  4. After tossing them, add the Varagu rice and fried Moong Dal
  5. Add water and salt required
  6. Close the lid and cook until it is done
  7. Garnish with few peppercorns and cashew fried in Ghee

Prep Time - 5 mins

Cook Time - 15 mins
