Kerala Style Kadala curry
A gravy based curry recipe made with black chickpeas and coconut.
Ingredients
- Black Channa – 100 gm
- Grated Coconut – ½ cup
- Onion – 1
- Tomato – 1
- Green Chilli – 1
- Turmeric – ¼ tsp.
- Chilli powder 1 tsp.
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp.
- Fennel powder – ½ tsp.
- Oil – 2 tsp.
- Custard – 1 tsp.
- Salt to taste
Steps
- Wash and soak Black Channa for 6 to 8 hours
- Add soaked black Channa, turmeric powder, salt in cooker and boil it (6 whistles).
- Add 1 tsp oil in kadai and sauté grated coconut.
- Grind Coconut, coriander, cumin, fennel, chilli powder in a mixer. Make it to a paste.
- Add 1 tsp oil in Kadai. Put custard, curry leaves, diced onion in kadai and sauté for few mins until onion turns golden brown. Add tomato, green chilli and sauté for few mins.
- Add grinded masala paste, salt(to taste) and 1 cup water. Boil it for 3 mins.
- Add boiled black channa and simmer the stove for 10 mins.
- Add coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
- Kerala style Kadala Curry ready.
