Foxtail Millet (Thinai) Curd Upma

A healthy and delicious savoury breakfast dish made with foxtail millets, spices and mixed vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Thinai (Foxtail millet)– ½ cup
  • Curd – ¼ cup
  • Salt to taste
    For Seasoning:
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Chana Dal – 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
    Veggies:
  • Chopped Onion – 1 no
  • Chopped Tomato– 1 no
  • Chopped Carrot– 1 no
  • Chopped Green Beans – few
  • Green Peas, Sweet Corn
  • Green Chilli chopped – 3 nos.
  • Chopped Ginger, Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves

Steps

  1. Add ghee to a Kadai and season   it with seasoning ingredients as given and saute them for 5 mins
  2. Add the required veggies and saute them a little
  3. Now add 2 cups of water and let the veggies to cook for few mins
  4. Add salt to taste
  5. Now add Thinai and cook it for   20 mins
  6. Finally add curd. Now Upma is ready
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves
  8. Serve hot with coconut chutney
